While often we focus more on speaking skills, listening is just as critical to becoming conversationally fluent in Chinese! In fact, listening is one of the first skills babies develop when learning their first language, and the foundation for success for all second language learners.
Listen and translate
When watching the course videos, we recommend first watching without subtitles in order to test your listening and interpretation skills. Feel free to pause in order to give yourself time to think and translate the sentence, and rewatch sections you struggled to understand the first time. You can also slow down the video using the video settings, in order to find a speed which suits you.
Then, re-watch the video with subtitles (either in English or Pinyin) to check your understanding.
